GE purchase boosts solar energy prospects
New York Times article (requires free registration). GE expands presence in solar industry and lends some corporate muscle to the growing field. Still a niche technology that's far away from mass adoption for industrial or residential uses, solar power is still advancing through research and testing. Most of the successes thus far have been in specialty areas like oil drilling platforms, portable traffic displays and such.
